Job Description

Serve as the lead coordinator on IR sponsored events, including guest speakers. Serve as the lead coordinator for alumni outreach, including database maintenance and social media accounts. Coordinate with the Assistant Director and Teaching Faculty to provide support for Model UN Team, IR Living and Learning Community, IR Clubs and Organizations. Coordinate with the Chair and Assistant Director, IR on recruitment efforts for prospective students and majors, including developing marketing materials. Support the Assistant Director, IR with course scheduling and curriculum development. Assist the Chair and the Assistant Director, IR on developing and implementing initiatives to improve the student experience, including alumni mentorship, speaker series, and career, academic, and social events. Assist the Chair and the Assistant Director, IR with program data for Maxwell and University reporting requirements as needed. Assist the Chair and the Assistant Director, IR with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters or higher degree preferred.
- Preferred experience living and working internationally.
- Prior event coordination, recruitment, and outreach experience preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • The candidate should have knowledge of, and prior working experience, in an interdisciplinary academic program.
  • Prior work experience in an academic environment as well as for a governmental, non-profit, or industry preferred. International work or study experience preferred.
  • Professional level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook; Competencies in Access, on-line scheduling tools (Acuity), Blackboard, and Ektron; Familiarity with WordPress, On-Base, and on-line survey tools including Qualtrics; Proficiency in PeopleSoft.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Student Experience Initiatives. Coordinate with the Assistant Director and Teaching Faculty to provide support for Model UN Team, IR Living and Learning Community, IR Clubs and Organizations; Undertake several new initiatives to improve the student experience, to enhance the quality of the program’s curriculum and academic offerings. Coordinate speaker series and professional development workshops, including speakers, logistics, and publicity materials; Maintain regular contact with Syracuse Abroad and Maxwell-in-Washington programs to assist curricular coordination and advising for majors.
  • Assist with Curriculum Development and Course Scheduling. Assist the Chair and the Asst. Director, IR with curriculum review and identify courses applicable to the majors and minors from affiliated faculty across the Maxwell School and the University, including Syracuse Abroad offerings. Prepare reports on course enrollments; Maintain database of campus and off-campus course listings; Create and provide semester course lists for major and minors to students prior to registration; Schedule all IRP and cross-listed courses in PeopleSoft; Issue student-specific permission for registration as necessary; Maintain and update IR Program website and Answers pages with Course and Program information.
  • Coordinate on Reporting Requirements. Provide Chair and Assistant Director, IR with data for Maxwell School and University reporting requirements, program and course planning, majors and minors advising; Complete special requests and projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate and Lead Alumni Outreach Efforts. Develop program’s alumni network and manage mentoring program that pairs current students with alumni for career advice and mentoring. Develop IR-specific career resources and maintain database on alumni career paths as well as social media accounts.
  • Coordinate on Recruitment Activities. Coordinate with Chair, IR Program staff, and Admissions on recruitment activities: Updates and maintenance of IR Program website; Revise and maintain publicity materials for program, SU Abroad, Maxwell-in-Washington; Participate in in-person and on-line recruitment events in coordination with Chair, Admissions, and IR Program Staff; Respond to inquiries from prospective students and University Admissions as required.
