FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 

 

The School of Education of the Hunter College-City University of New York invites applications for an open-rank tenure track position in Early Childhood Education (birth-age 8) starting late August 2023. Appointment to the position will be at the assistant, associate, or full rank based on previous experience. The college places a high priority on research and teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate (MS; Ed.D) levels with an expectation that the candidate will also be active in their professional field. Candidates must have a commitment to inquiry and advocacy on issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion that affect learning outcomes, including social-emotional learning, for infants, preschoolers, and early elementary students. The college is strongly committed to achieving excellence through recruiting diverse candidates in regard to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other historically underrepresented groups.

 

 

 

Candidate will be expected to: conduct research and publish scholarly writing in early childhood education; teach undergraduate and graduate (MS & Ed.D) courses that span birth through grade 2; supervise students in field placements; develop and maintain relationships with local schools; advise undergraduate and graduate students; serve on department, school of education, college, and university committees; develop training and/or research grant proposal, and demonstrate leadership in the field.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

 

For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:

 

 

 

Ph.D or Ed.D with professional preparation and practical experience in early childhood education (birth-age 8); extensive knowledge of theory and practice in early childhood education; strong evidence of established or promising research and scholarly activity depending on rank; university teaching and supervisory experience; competence in a variety of methods and tools for university teaching, including technology and online learning.

 

 

 

Applicants should have experience and knowledge of theory and practice in early childhood emergent literacy and STEAM teaching and learning in preschool through Grade 2. As a public urban institution, our curriculum, scholarship and school partnerships reflect a commitment to equity, advocacy, and educating a diverse student population. VACCINE REQUIREMENT

 

 

 

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Assistant Professor: $52,267 - $99,532

 

Associate Professor: $67,784 - $117,805

 

Full Professor: $83,878 - $141,858
