Description:   

The History Department at CUNY-Queens College has an opening for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of the Middle East/Islamic World. We are open to candidates working within the Medieval, Early Modern, and Modern (contemporary) periods. Desired specializations include, but are not limited to, the History of Science, History of Education, and Gender.  

The successful candidate will be able to teach both parts of the undergraduate Islamic Civilization survey, as well as courses in the department’s MA program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record of teaching, research, and writing. Job duties include guidance duties in area(s) of expertise, and the sharing of responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, student advising, and other functions.
