Job Summary:

The BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine Research Program is looking for a high-energy individual to join the Research Coordinator team and assist in recruiting and enrolling research participants in the fast-paced emergency department of a Level 1 Trauma Center. The Department of Emergency Medicine Research Program is multidisciplinary with a variety of projects in clinical and translational research, including clinical trials, electronic medical record data analysis, survey research, and qualitative research. We partner with industry sponsors and study teams across the University.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates clinical research studies, performing related tasks and activities. Collects information, recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility, and enrolls study participants and ensures subjects follow the research protocol.
  • 5% Schedules logistics, determines workflows, and secures resources for a defined clinical research trial(s)
  • 30% Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility and enrolls trial participants, collects information, and answers questions under supervision of a medically licensed professional. May perform basic medical assessments after completion of required training/certification, such as collecting vital signs, obtaining weight, and performing phlebotomy
  • 30% Manages research workflow components, collects, prepares, processes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols
  • 5% Identifies work unit resources needs and manages supply and equipment inventory levels
  • 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for clinical research participants and clinical staff, providing information regarding research procedures, expectations, and informational inquiries. Ensures participants follow the research protocol and alerts Principal Investigator of issues
  • 10% Support Operational projects within the emergency department under the direction of the Vice Chair of Research and the EDRC Supervisor
  • 10% Performs Quality Checks

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications:

1-2 years experience recruiting, consenting, and enrolling participants in research studies is preferred.
1-2 years experience in emergency medicine or other clinical health care setting is preferred.
Excellent command of spoken and written English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation is required.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 12 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
