DAIRY FOODS & PROCESSING TRAINER

Salary:

Minimum $45,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Center for Dairy Research (CDR) on the UW-Madison campus is the largest dairy foods research center in the US. Combining a background in dairy foods manufacturing and a passion for teaching and mentoring, this position will help keep the dairy industry growing and strong. As part of the CDR communications team, you will help develop and deliver innovative curriculum while maintaining the integrity of CDR's rich short course training history. Dairy foods training you will help facilitate includes open enrollment short courses, private (on and offsite) tailored training, virtual learning, self-study modules and our growing customized programs for industry team members. The position will work closely with our scientists, researchers, sensory coordinator, safety specialist and food technologist, to offer and provide the best dairy training in the industry. This position could also include outreach and mentorship with the Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker program, in collaboration with the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin.

Responsibilities:

Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 10% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 40% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 20% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 30% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement

Education:

Required
Bachelor's degree in Dairy Foods, Food Science, Food Engineering, Microbiology, Chemical or Biological Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications:

Required:
- Experience in dairy foods manufacturing or processing
- Working knowledge of dairy chemistry/technology and cheesemaking
- Effective in public speaking
- Experience in a training or teaching role (formal or informal)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others
- Skilled at using various tools and technology, including Microsoft Office suite and virtual platforms (such as online learning platforms), or the ability to learn

Preferred:
- Previous work experience as a trainer, teacher, or educator
- Experience in utilizing virtual or online learning platforms
- Experience developing training materials or learning curriculum

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 75% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
