Job Description
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, or operation of comprehensive data warehouse systems to balance optimization of data access with batch loading and resource utilization factors, according to customer requirements.
System Analysis and Design (50%)
- Assist with the design, implementation, or operation of
comprehensive data warehouse systems. Balance and optimize data
warehouse availability and access concerns with batch loading and
online system impact requirements.
- Develop data warehouse process models, including sourcing,
loading, transformation, and extraction.
- Maintain and modify accordingly metadata processes and
frameworks.
- Maintain and modify accordingly to plans, test files, and
scripts for data warehouse testing, ranging from unit to
integration testing.
- Maintain and modify accordingly to warehouse database
structures.
- Maintain and modify accordingly data extraction procedures from
other systems, such as administration, billing, or
claims.
Operational (30%)
- Adhere to defined standards for organizational structure, issue
reporting and resolution, change management, data governance,
nomenclature, and design patterns, practices, and
frameworks.
- Validate data quality through analysis and audit of source
system data, model reports, and documentation.
- Map data between source systems, data warehouses, and data
marts.
- Develop, document, and revise system design procedures, test
procedures, and quality standards.
- Determine thresholds for system monitoring warnings and
implement processes to determine when those thresholds are met and
determine the means of communicating warnings to the support
team.
- Design, develop, maintain, document, and implement processes
and procedures to pull performance and general metrics information
using application logs.
- Interface with central monitoring facility to coordinate
installation and configuration of monitoring software, use of best
practices and availability of monitoring information.
- Consult with departmental personnel for problem definition and
management requirements.
- Analyze source documents, data base structure and management
report requirements.
Administrative (10%)
- Create and maintain system support documentation to include,
entity relationship diagrams, data lineage maps, business process /
process flow diagrams, routine system maintenance
documents.
- Maintain monitoring and data gathering systems for reporting
and performance purposes.
- Generate and provide routine and ad hoc reports or dashboards
to management.
- Provide consulting to application owners and end users about
the use of monitoring facilities on assigned systems.
- Monitor system resource usage and performance.
- Create and maintain user accounts. Perform on call
rotation.
Other (10%)
- Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts and
procedures as appropriate to project requirements
- Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how
to develop programs that meet staff and user
requirements.
- Adheres to internal controls established for
department.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Eight (8) years of related experience.
- Additional education/experience may be used as a substitution
for the minimum requirements:
- HS Diploma/GED and twelve (12) years of related
experience
- Associates degree and ten (10) years of related
experience
- Masters degree and six (6) years of related
experience
- HS Diploma/GED and twelve (12) years of related
experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education including demonstrated knowledge
of higher education organization structure and business practices
and the associated systems and platforms (Student information
systems, academic advising, student recruitment).
- Experience with institutional software solutions for identity
management, and document management.
- ITIL Service Management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated planning, project management skills.
- Ability to effectively guide, lead, and develop technical
employees promoting team relationship skills and
communication.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully organize and lead large
complex technical projects.
- Experience in management for a disaster tolerant institutional
application environment.
Salary:
- $83,639/Annual
