Position Summary:
Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Athletics, the Director of Athletics Communications supports Susquehanna University's proud Division III heritage by helping to generate regional and national visibility for its 23 intercollegiate sports and its student-athletes through creative video/digital content, media relations, press releases, media guides, SURiverHawks.com, and any other available print & electronic media. This position requires the willingness to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as well as some travel to away sporting events.Specific Responsibilities
  • Department liaison to campus marketing and communications and collaborate with campus departments and other constituents.
  • Direct all athletics communications, including but not limited to news releases, features, gameday operations, statistics collection and management, publications, photography, social media and creative content.
  • Manage the athletics website (suriverhawks.com) and social media platforms.
  • Supervise all aspects of the department's graphic design, social media, and video content (both live and content creation).
  • Stay abreast of and conduct research to support content strategies; post daily content to social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.,
  • Responsible for programming and production of short-form video content for athletics website and social media pages.
  • Responsible for gameday operations of stream and video production systems that include Blueframe, Spiddieo, Hudl and additional software.
  • Serve as a member of Hall of Fame committee and provide communications support, as needed.
  • Supervision of athletic communications staff and student workers.
  • Coordinate in-game social initiatives, fan experience programming; and other duties as assigned.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as a proficiency in graphic design and recording and editing video, preferred.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesThe successful candidate will be a savvy social media content creator. The candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Cloud, and photo and video editing software. Knowledge of in-game statistical software (Stat Crew, PrestoStats, and NCAA LiveStats). Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, strong attention to details, and the ability to manage multiple projects in an effective and timely manner. Skilled in communication both verbal and written. Ability to relate and work with other campus stakeholders. Ability to exercise sound judgement, confidentiality and work independently.EducationBachelor’s Degree is required.
    ExperienceMinimum 2 years of experience in a collegiate sports information setting required.Additional RequirementsThis position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle. CPR, AED and First Aid certification is preferred.
    Physical Demand Requires the ability to walk and carry items to the stadium press box and other athletic fields, occasional travel to off-site conferences or sporting events. Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods. The position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and hear instructions and frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Position requires lifting, pulling, and pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Work is indoors and outdoors.



    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience
    Experience in a sports information office preferred.
    Education
    Master’s degree preferred.
