Job Description

The Missouri S&T Senior Student Support Specialist position will be responsible for providing direct customer service to constituents (responsible for an alpha group of students), daily counseling appointments throughout the entire day, Professional Judgement counseling, Consortium Agreement counseling, outreach to students directly from regular calling lists to encourage appointments, responding to general office email and voicemail when no appointments are scheduled, proactively communicating with families and students, and assisting with recruitment and registration activities. It is expected that this position will also assist in crafting student communications, chat bot updates/interactions and social media outreach, as well as attending and setting up of outreach events, reviewing of scholarship and Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals, Work Study Community Service Outreach and aiding Student Affairs who manages the Student Emergency Fund and EdSights projects.

This position will review, analyze, evaluate, process, and monitor information, records, transcripts, applications and/or other data in relation to student programs, requirements, standards, policies, procedures, and regulations. This position will also provide various levels of financial aid advice from basic financial aid questions to more detailed student and family specific financial aid assistance. This position will communicate in person, electronically or in writing with applicants, students and/or parents to convey and exchange information and documents.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred skills/abilities of candidates: Experience in a financial assistance office with some knowledge of Title IV regulations is preferred. An understanding of different forms of social media communication, an ability to interact professionally with diverse personalities, and excellent teamwork/cooperation skills is requested. The successful candidate should demonstrate exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and the Microsoft Office Suite is a strong plus.
