Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience; or related Master’s degree.

N/A Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Business Officer position is to provide support to the Dean of the Hayes School of Music in managing the budgets. This person will independently perform a variety of finance-related duties to ensure the financial goals of the Hayes School of Music, Cannon Music Camp, and the Community Music School are achieved.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Implements budgeting and financial record-keeping procedures.
  • Advises the Dean regarding financial decisions.
  • Interprets University financial reports.
  • Maintains annual budgeting and develops financial planning by providing allocation and expense projections.
  • Monitors balances and expenditures.
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing financial and other statistical data.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Dean, Academic Affairs, and the Controller’s Office on financial matters for the Hayes School of Music to ensure budgetary policies and procedures are in compliance.
  • Presents training and development sessions for faculty who utilize specific University funds for their areas.
  • Oversee summer salaries and other additional compensation actions. This duty includes assessing needs/expectations, planning, documenting, and recommending funding scenarios.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and making recommendations concerning position budgets and salary distribution.
  • Monitors payroll and maintains documentation for payroll reconciliation.
  • Works closely with the Executive Assistant on Position Management for the Hayes School of Music.
  • P-card reconciliation.
  • Manages and Maintains The Hayes School of Music Touchnet sites for online sales associated with locker rentals, recording studio time, and gear for the Marching Mountaineers.
  • Manage the fiscal year-end closeout process.
  • Initiate and approve accounting transactions (Internal POs, purchasing card transactions, journal entries, budget revisions, etc.)
  • Collaborates closely with the Dean and Associate Dean to distribute, track and monitor scholarships for the Hayes School of Music and Cannon Music Camp.
  • Submit guest and third-party contracts.
