Duties

  • Responsible for interpreting, administering, and implementing information security and privacy laws to include: Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) for NDU.
  • Advises senior management to include Chief Information Officer and Director of Security on cost/benefit of programs and systems, risk levels and security posture.
  • Develops and implements internal policy and programs to safeguard FOIA and PA sensitive information for NDU.
  • Conducts periodic information privacy impact assessments and on going compliance monitoring activities in coordination with the organization?s other compliance and operational assessment functions.
  • Performs research analysis and evaluation of data submitted for inclusion or exclusion in response to highly complex, sensitive, and controversial requests for information.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

  • Obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-12 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience administering, and implementing information security and privacy laws to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of an organization's system-related information through an established framework such as the Federal Information Security Information Management Act (FISMA); and ensuring the appropriate handling of sensitive information such as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA) and civil liberties.
