Position Purpose

Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, the Senior Box Office Manager oversees ticketing operations and is responsible for developing, implementing and assessing systems that ensure excellent visitor experience, maintain efficiency and consistency, and increase accessibility. This position oversees box office staffing and finances, and works in the box office with the other managers.

Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

- Substantial experience with Tessitura or similar ticketing and patrons management database, including building shows, generating reports and managing data.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in a box office or patron services department, including supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes regular evening and occasional weekend shifts.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet operations and experience working on collaborative platforms such as Google Suite and with project management software.
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment, balance competing responsibilities, and identify appropriate escalation measures.
- Knowledge and experience with cash management, credit card security and PCI compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with a diverse group of constituencies.
- Strong sense of initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience managing a team with direct reports.

Preferred Qualifications

- Advance degree in community engagement, organizing, arts education, arts management, arts marketing or related field.
- Experience gathering and analyzing data to report on cultural impact.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools and experience writing eblasts, articles and reports.
- Familiarity and comfort with collaboration tools, such as Slack, Asana and relational databases.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Box Office Management
Oversees two full time box office managers with an additional operational team of students. Works alongside team on database configuration and ticketing practices in order to support live events, films and special events, presented in various venues throughout the Hop and across campus. Responsible for the efficient and evolving use of Tessitura Network customer relationship management platform and its various connected payment, communication and management systems. Manages financial reconciliation and reporting, liaises with colleagues in finance and donor relations, and determines staff scheduling and resource allocation. Implements practices for leveraging new technologies, adapting to new venues during Hop renovation, and serving new programmatic goals.

Description

Ticket Selling & Box Office Operations
Participates in all manner of sales of complex ticketing to a wide ranging set of constituents. The role conducts day-to-day operations and is the supervising manager of the box office during assigned shifts that regularly include evenings and weekends. This work includes processing orders, communicating with visitors, maintaining records, and ensuring fluid communication of information and consistent operations across the box office.

Description

Visitor Services
Liaises with other Hop departments and campus collaborators to develop plans for configuring, ticketing and communicating with visitors. Collaborates with the communications team on digital communications with ticket holders and visitors. Coordinates with front of house to develop and implement event ticketing plans that lead to smooth visitor experiences, including developing and implementing policies and practices focused on accessibility. Promotes and embodies professionalism, empathy, establishing a positive work environment for box office managers and student staff.
