Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will work with an amazing team of engineers, on the EED -3 program, that supports NASA in its mission to provide scientists and other users access to data from NASA’s Earth science missions. More specifically, you will be working with the Cumulus team, which is developing a cloud-based (get why they called it Cumulus?) ingest and archive system for Earth Science records from around the world, tailored to NASA’s Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs) that each have a specific science focus.
As a Software Engineer and a member of the Cumulus development team, you will build innovative tools allowing scientists and students alike to discover, transform, update and improve the quality of earth science data in the pursuit of solving a wide range of environmental and socio-economic issues.
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from user story generation, through design, development, automated testing and operational support.
  • Develop new feature ideas to meet the ever-evolving needs of our end-users.
  • Continually help the team grow by sharing new ideas and industry best practices.
  • Suggest improvements to processes and tools to help the team be more efficient.
Minimum Qualifications

Education

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline required.

Experience
  • A minimum of (1) one year of experience with node.js.; and experience with the Atlassian tool suite ( JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo).
  • A minimum of (1) one year of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software engineering.
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) a plus.
  • Knowledge of AWS services (S3, IAM, Lambda and Terraform), hands-on experience would be a plus 03/10/22 4.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of system engineering and integration tools.
  • Ability to interact with distributed team members and different corporate culture.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
