Online Learning Services provides workshops, seminars, and consults with faculty members, teaching assistants and students in support of technology-enhanced teaching and learning. Online Learning Services also provides support for the institutional learning management system, Blackboard Learn. Services provided include Tier 3 support, training, and instructional design. In addition, Online Learning Services provides project management of the application through the coordination and organization of technical and functional upgrades and enhancement through the addition of new features (social, portfolio, retention, open content repository, analytics, and more.)

Also supported are a portfolio of instructional applications, including the Collaborate webconferencing system, Zoom, the Kaltura video repository, as well as other locally hosted and online tools. Services around these applications are provided both faculty members and students.

This position also provides oversight of the Digital Scholarship Space ( DSS ) which is an active learning space in Bird Library. This includes management of several student workers that support users in the DSS . Qualifications
  • Masters Degree or Ph.D. is preferred, but bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, human computer interaction, education or the equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
  • Three (3) plus years of relevant experience in customer service, assistive technology or related field direct or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Experience in Higher Education preferred. Experience teaching preferred, especially at the college level.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Strong customer service skills required, including the ability to work with a variety of clients, including staff and faculty members.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills. Demonstrated written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into technical project plans including the suggestion of a variety of appropriate technical solutions.
  • Experience supporting and/or teaching online courses preferred. Familiarity with Blackboard LMS and Zoom web conferencing tool.
  • Passion and experience with using technology to build courses using universal and instructional design concepts.
  • Experience with using/supporting learning management systems.
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team, serving as the bridge between staff and faculty clients and technical developers.
  • Ability to stay current on a wide variety of academic applications and web-based applications.
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn new things required.
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility in work style.
  • Self-motivated employee required.
  • Experience supporting active learning spaces is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical people about highly technical work is essential
Responsibilities
  • Develop effective workshops, seminars, website content, multimedia visual aids and presentations, video demonstrations, e-learning modules, and online courses as needed to train and develop faculty and staff on available technologies for classroom and online teaching and learning.
  • Assists faculty in curriculum planning, developing effective multi-sensory instructional strategies, and assessment of these materials. Designs and develops instructional interactive modules to be embedded as part of face-to-face and/or online courses.
  • Works with videographers, photographers, graphic designers, editors and other instructional technology staff to coordinate the design and delivery of technology enhanced courses and course materials.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to trainers from other departments throughout the University who want to develop their own technology-enabled training (online workshops, webinars, etc.) for faculty and staff.
  • Conduct research studies evaluating the use of technologies and their impact on student learning outcomes and manages the implementation of new technologies on-campus for the use of instruction
