Assistant Professor, Health Sciences (Five Positions)
The Department of Health Sciences at James Madison University invites applications for tenure track assistant professors to fill growth and retirement related openings beginning Fall 2023. The 10-month tenure-track instructional faculty positions will be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor and will support the tripartite mission of Health Sciences for our Bachelors of Science degree. We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to a diverse scholarly environment and enhance the discussion of structural intersectionality between health, environment, race, culture and economics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach assigned undergraduate courses within the B.S. in Health Sciences curriculum (https://www.healthsci.jmu.edu/). Faculty should be prepared to teach multiple courses in areas contributing to our engaging curriculum, such as health behaviors, health determinants, medical terminologies, statistical methods, health research methods, epidemiology, ethics and critical thinking, human diseases, global health, human sexuality, child and adolescent health, environmental health, use and effect of drugs, and program planning, implementation and evaluation.
Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree (earned by the start date) in public health, health sciences, health education and promotion, or related field.
Candidates must possess a commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service. Potential for all three areas should be evident. Candidates must also demonstrate an appreciation for the preparation of undergraduate students for graduate education or professional programs (e.g., public health, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medicine). We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to a diverse scholarly environment.
