Position Function

Serve as the primary HR liaison for assigned client areas. Advise and counsel employees, supervisors, and administrators regarding university policies and state and federal laws and regulations that impact the human resources functions of designated areas. Provide guidance regarding talent acquisition, retention, classification, compensation and performance management. Serve on and lead HR project teams. Develop and deliver learning and development sessions. Serve as the point of contact for temporary work visa filings.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.

Minimum Experience

At least three years of related experience.

Minimum Other

Excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency with database software; ability to manage and complete projects; very detail oriented.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Master’s degree from an accredited university or college.

Preferred Experience

Experience working in human resources in higher education. Knowledge of temporary visa (H1B) filings.

Preferred Other

CCP or PHR / SPHR certification.

Pre-Employment Screening

Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

Serve as the primary HR liaison for assigned client areas; partner with assigned areas to understand their business needs and develop strategies that will accomplish current and future HR-related objectives.

Develop and implement effective talent acquisition solutions in order to attract and retain highly qualified and diverse individuals. Serve as a functional expert on employment best practices by building strong relationships with various customer departments and hiring managers and provide consultation to areas. Serve as a liaison with on-line application system vendor, test upgrades, recommend and implement system changes.

Administer the employment, promotion, and transfer process in assigned areas according to university policies and procedures. Review requests to fill vacancies and related ad campaigns; review and edit recruitment ads that promote the position and university and attract a diverse, qualified applicant pool. Attend job fairs. Monitor recruitment pools to determine if additional recruitment efforts are needed. Utilize metrics to evaluate recruiting performances and improve recruiting initiatives.

In consultation with the Director, implement and maintain compensation programs to include classification structure, job evaluation processes, market pricing, survey participation, and compensation policies, processes and procedures.

Perform job analysis and evaluation of staff positions using various analysis techniques and following the guidelines of the university’s Job Evaluation Plan; includes conduct interviews, summarize job responsibilities, rate positions, evaluate organizational structures with university work units, prepare position descriptions, establish minimum qualifications, determine exemption status, and determine salaries in consultation with supervisors and the Director of Human Resources. Serve as a member of the Job Evaluation Committee within University Human Resource Services.

Advise and counsel employees, supervisors, and administrators regarding work related problems of employees, interpersonal problems, or problems with university policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with Employee Relations regarding disciplinary issues.
