Assistant Professor - English and Humanities/Composition/Rhetoric

The English and Humanities Department at Alfred State invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Composition/Rhetoric.  This is a full-time, tenure-track position, 5-5.  Primary teaching responsibilities will include first-year writing and introductory literature courses that may require skill in online and digital modes of instruction; additional responsibilities may include Technical Writing, Technical Communication, and Writing for Emergent Media courses.  Faculty are expected to also work with curriculum and course development, student advisement, program and course assessment, committee service, and ongoing professional development through scholarly activities.  A strong commitment to DEI and social justice as well as experience mentoring underrepresented students is encouraged.  This is an on-campus position meeting primarily in a face-to-face mode.  The position begins fall 2023.
