Husson University's College of Science and Humanities invites
applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Chemistry
to begin Fall 2023. Ideal applicants will have a strong scientific
background and a passion for teaching.
This position is responsible for all aspects of teaching organic
chemistry lecture and lab courses, including developing and
implementing lab activities, assessing student performance, and
reporting grades for coursework. Teaching load also include lecture
and labs for the first year general chemistry sequence as well as
the one semester nursing chemistry class and labs. Teaching
sections of biochemistry or microbiology may also be necessary.
Expertise in polymer chemistry is a plus. The teaching load is 12
credit hours per semester. The position will include
responsibilities in managing and coordinating assessment tools,
Examsoft, and CANVAS for the first year chemistry courses. All
ranked faculty are expected to fulfill institutional expectations
of teaching, scholarship, advising and service.
Successful candidates must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to
quality teaching, a strong promise for scholarly activity and
professional service, as well as excellent communication and
interpersonal skills. Candidates will be expected to provide
ongoing academic advising and serve a diverse student population.
Candidates will be required to remain current with new trends and
developments in their field of and to promote the scholarship of
teaching and learning, participate in campus committees, and engage
in the academic life of the University.

The successful candidate will:
Develop and present materials necessary for assigned lecture and
Develop and enhance current lab activities to meet changing needs

Assess student performance and participate in college assessment
Prepare the lab space for weekly lab instruction, including
equipment and consumables
Manage Course Assessments
Organize and manage American Chemical Society standardized
Work professionally, ethically and collaboratively within the
College of Science and Humanities and the University
Note: This is a face-to-face position; candidates are expected
to be on campus.
Education: Must have a minimum M.S. in an appropriate field with 5
years of teaching and laboratory experience. ABD or Ph.D.
preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong
commitment to effective teaching and student learning, as well as
the ability to collaborate across disciplines to develop
outstanding educational opportunities for students.
Must be a team player who is able to work independently with
minimal supervision, and function congenially and effectively
within a team environment. Must be comfortable operating and
maintaining lab instruments and analytical computer software.
