Professor of Practice/Associate Professor of Practice/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer I or II in Corporate Governance and Law (PR0304/22-23)

The Department of Accountancy and Law is looking for a Professor of Practice/Associate Professor of Practice or Senior Lecturer/Lecturer I or II.  The appointee will be involved in course management and teaching the courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels: corporate governance, compliance, business law, and company law.

Applicants for the position of Professor/Associate Professor of Practice should have a bachelor’s degree (a higher degree is an advantage) plus not less than 15 years (for Professor of Practice) and 8 years (for Associate Professor of Practice) of post-qualification experience as a company secretary/assistant company secretary of a listed company or solicitor or barrister practicing in Hong Kong or a common law jurisdiction.  Fractional appointment for Professor of Practice/Associate Professor of Practice on a half-time basis may be considered.  Applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer/Lecturer I/Lecturer II should have a higher degree in law or corporate governance (preferably a PhD) and a good record of teaching and curriculum development at the tertiary level.

The initial appointment will be on a fixed-term contract of two years commencing 1 September 2023 or an earlier date.  Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Application Procedure:

Applicants are invited to submit their applications at the HKBU e-Recruitment System (jobs.hkbu.edu.hk).  Candidates should send in their teaching evaluation results for the last three years and samples of publications, preferably the best three out of their most recent publications.  Applicants should also request two referees to send in confidential letters of reference, with the PR number quoted on the letters, to the Human Resources Office (Email: recruit@hkbu.edu.hk) direct.  Those who are not invited for interview 4 months after the closing date may consider their applications unsuccessful.  All application materials including publication samples and scholarly/creative works will not be returned after the completion of the recruitment exercise unless upon request.  Details of the University’s Personal Information Collection Statement can be found at http://hro.hkbu.edu.hk/pics.

The University reserves the right not to make an appointment for the post advertised, and the appointment will be made according to the terms and conditions applicable at the time of offer.

Closing date: 31 January 2023 (or until the position is filled)
