College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach Mental Health and Psych Nursing within its Nursing Department.

Course Description

This course builds on and applies concepts of nursing practice to the care of patients with various mental health needs, their families, and other support persons. Application of new and previously learned nursing concepts, patient care skills, and clinical judgment occurs in a variety of clinical settings.

The clinical days are either Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday/Fridays during the day shift from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM

Adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening classes at the Visalia Campus, the Hanford Educational Center, or the Tulare College Center.

This position will be open until filled. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions and do not accrue rights to tenure.

Job Duties

Under the general direction of a dean or director, adjunct faculty will provide comprehensive classroom instruction to community college students.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

Master's in nursing AND

Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she will be assigned, which can be met by:
  • One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area or
  • One (1) academic year of registered nursing level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency

  • OR

    Bachelor's in nursing with one (1) full-time year or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area

    OR

    Associate of science in nursing with six (6) full-time years or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area

    OR

    The minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.
