The Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured appointment in Architectural and/or Urban History at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The appointment is within HCAD's New Jersey School of Architecture. We seek an educator and emerging/established scholar to teach architectural and/or urban history and theory in both survey lecture and seminar courses to undergraduate and graduate students. We seek candidates whose scholarship is focused on the histories and theories of the built environment, with preference given to those whose interests engage global or local histories of inequality, architectural technology, and/or sustainability. Candidates should hold a PhD in architectural history or a related field and have a well-defined research agenda which can be advanced through publications. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in service activities within HCAD and NJIT, as well within their profession and/or discipline. A commitment to educational excellence in a public university with a diverse student body is expected.
Candidates should submit a CV, a cover letter that includes a statement of interest outlining their vision and qualifications for the position, a research statement, a teaching statement, and a list of three references. Applicants should also provide a link in their cover letter to a digital dossier containing samples of scholarly work. Diversity is a core value of NJIT and we are committed to make diversity, equity and inclusion, part of everything we do. We celebrate the diversity of our university community and recognize the cultural and personal differences. We strive to cultivate an inclusive campus culture that promotes excellence among our faculty, staff and students. Building a robust and diverse community is critical to NJIT's continuing status as a premier institution of higher education and a leading polytechnic university. As an EEO employer, NJIT is committed to building a diverse and inclusive teaching, research, and working environment, and strongly encourages applications from individuals with disabilities, minorities, veterans, and women.
