Assistant or Associate Professor - Wildlife Ecology and Management

Location: Moscow

Position Summary:
The position will involve approximately 40% teaching, 40% scholarship, 10% outreach and 10% service and leadership. Teaching responsibilities will include 9-12 credits inclusive of a senior-level capstone course in Wildlife Management, a graduate-level course in the candidate’s specialty area, and possible online graduate and/or undergraduate instruction. The successful candidate will serve as the faculty mentor for the Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong, extramurally funded research program addressing basic ecological and management-relevant questions in wildlife ecology in Idaho and surrounding region, to mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and to work across disciplines with other faculty both within and outside the College of Natural Resources.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Wildlife Ecology and Management or closely related field.
  • In-depth knowledge about current management issues relating to wildlife and have strong quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrate experience publishing research related to these topics in refereed journals
  • Demonstrate a capacity to teach graduate and undergraduate courses using effective and innovative teaching approaches online and in person
  • Demonstrate potential to develop a research program that is both relevant statewide and recognized nationally, including the capacity to obtain external grants
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills relevant to scientific and management audiences.
  • The level of experience will be evaluated at a level appropriate to the position rank indicated by the applicant

  • Demonstrated ability to secure external grant funding for research
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborations and partnerships across campuses and federal programs.
  • The level of experience will be evaluated at a level appropriate to the position rank indicated by the applicant.
