Position Summary:

Arkansas Tech University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering level starting in August 2023.  The Electrical Engineering program serves 170 students majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering with Biomedical Option.  The BS programs in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (http://www.abet.org/). Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student interactions through undergraduate and graduate research, advising and student organizations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach, assess, and develop undergraduate and Master's level courses in power systems and electrical machines and other curricular areas of the engineering programs.

Effectively advise/mentor students at the undergraduate and Master's level.

Engage students in high impact learning practices.

Participate in scholarly activities including graduate and/or undergraduate research with publishing in appropriate journals or conferences.

Develop a sustainable scholarship program including seeking external funds to support the program.

Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service to the university, community, and state.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of and ability to teach courses related to electrical power systems, electrical power distribution, grid operation and protection, electric machines, and renewable energy.

Ability to teach fundamental Electrical Engineering courses.

Demonstrated skills in both oral and written communication.

Required Qualifications:

Earned Ph.D. (or if ABD the degree must be awarded by December 31, 2023) in Computer or Electrical Engineering from an institution that offers ABET EAC accredited program(s). 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Specialization/emphasis in one of the following areas: Electrical power systems, electrical power distribution, grid operation and protection, electric machines.

Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Industrial experience.

P.E. registration.

Potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Evidence of or potential for fostering an inclusive environment for diverse populations.
