Summary/Objective
The Director of Admissions is responsible for a broad range of academic and administrative functions including planning and implementation of strategies for recruitment of applicants and enrollment of admitted students. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to supervision of non-exempt staff, support personnel, student volunteers, reviewing applicant files, and confidential counseling. The Director will also work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid to evaluate current recruitment activities; develop new marketing, recruitment strategies and communications; development of Admissions applications and promotional materials; plan all aspects of virtual and on-campus applicant and admitted student events; counsel prospective applicants and admits; recommend and implement new technology.
In the absence of the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, this role is the lead contact for all things related to admissions and financial aid (in conjunction with the Senior Director of Financial Aid).
Essential Functions
- Manages non-exempt JD admissions office staff. Collaborates with WCL offices and departments to ensure successful matriculation of JD students. Serves on the law school’s leadership team and may serve on other law school committees. Undertakes special projects as needed by the Assistant Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid. Data processing/collection/analysis on admissions events or as needed. Assist with all reporting requirements. Recommend and implement enhancements to take maximum advantage of new uses of technology.
- Develop and manage marketing and communication strategy, oversee yearly communications calendar, admissions materials and generally support all traditional and virtual messaging on behalf of the Admissions Office. Works with the Resources Coordinator formulating a strategy for online content, including blog, social media and email campaigns.
- Provide advice and counseling to applicants seeking information about the admissions and financial aid processes, referring to other professionals where appropriate. Serve as a resource and liaison between WCL and prospective, admitted, and current students.
- Evaluate JD applications and recommends admission decision in a timely fashion consistent with institutional goals regarding enrollment revenue and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Counsel and correspond with prospective students, alumni, and pre-law advisors seeking information on admissions standards, the application process, or WCL curricular offerings. Represent the Law School by traveling to and participating in law fairs or graduate school fairs/panels at undergraduate schools or LSAC Forums to recruit applicants, with heavy travel from mid-September through early November and occasional travel thereafter. Engage in outreach with undergraduate pre-law organizations.
- Coordinate all aspects of virtual and on-campus applicant and admitted student events such as admitted students days/evening event, or other yield events including budgeting, invitations, room reservations, menus, volunteers, and staffing. Evaluate effectiveness of aforementioned events.
- Assists with gathering survey data ABA, US News, year-end reports, etc.
- Identify, manage and organize a lumni, faculty, and student admissions volunteers.

- Frequent travel required.

- 5-8 years of relevant experience
- Juris Doctor or equivalent
- 8-10 years of relevant experience
- Experience working with various financial aid models a plus.
- Valid driver’s license
- The successful candidate will have experience working with Financial Aid (merit and need based aid) packaging.
