Reporting to the chief information officer in the Office of Information Technology Services, the director of information technology consulting and solutions is responsible for the implementation, technical support, and maintenance of a portfolio of enterprise software services which are essential to the operation of the College and serve to foster innovation in administration and academic processes. This position will lead Colby through a continued transformation from homegrown and customized applications to licensed cloud and on-premise solutions, a change in development and integration platforms, and through the next phase of modernization of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Student Information System (SIS) platforms in Workday. The director leads College-wide teams through planning, solution evaluation, business process analysis, selection, implementation, and effective operational use. The director brings broad and deep knowledge of higher education to a role that champions the use of information technology in leading efforts to realize the mission and goals of the College. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage, guide, and directly support solutions processes including the development of software, implementation, integration, and management of cloud-based and on-premise solutions in service to the business and academic mission of the College

  • Lead a customer service-focused information technology consulting and solutions team to provide technical support, implement, integrate, and develop applications and data transformation based on the College’s mission and goals

  • Develop partnerships across the College with administrative and academic leaders to collaborate on solution adoption and business processes focused on strategic initiatives

  • Oversee development projects from inception through implementation to ensure timely, effective completion and achievement of desired outcomes

  • Manage, maintain, and provide technical and functional guidance and hands-on support of the College’s software solutions, data repositories, and interfaces to ensure availability and accuracy

  • Serve as a technology lead in the selection, implementation, and roll-out of the College’s next student information system (SIS)

  • Manage ERP and related systems budgets, including the SIS project budget, with oversight from the CIO and CFO

  • Partner with the director of data and change management to build business intelligence requirements and strategies focused on operational reporting and decision support needs

  • Serve as a technical point-of-contact in the College’s efforts to build an institutional data warehouse

  • Perform quality assurance to measure user satisfaction with existing applications and seek opportunities to improve services

  • Stay current on new developments and best practices to incorporate into operational management and planning for application software,business process optimization, and reporting

  • Provide leadership to the Administrative Systems Advisory committees

  • Partner with the vice president and chief financial officer (VP and CFO), chief information officer (CIO) and ITS leadership team to develop overall IT strategy and IT roadmap

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience; advanced degree and certification preferred

  • Minimum of seven years of technology related professional experience in the selection, implementation, and management of administrative software solutions is required

  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience and vendor and partner management preferred

  • Knowledge of the operational areas of higher education administration; Workday HCM, finance, and student platform implementation/experience preferred

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including strong relationship skills

  • Enthusiastic and results driven leader, manager, and proven change agent

  • Demonstrated talent to build alliances within and outside an organization, and to maintain the highest standards of ethics, integrity, dependability, and trust

  • Creative, innovative thinker embracing collaboration and partnership in developing solutions

  • Ability to work collaboratively with ITS staff and campus stakeholders of all levels of technical ability

  • Expertise in leading complex technology projects, including business process re-engineering, and application integration in a hybrid (on premise and cloud) environment

  • Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate, develop, and evaluate professional IT staff

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community

  • Effective time management practices, applied in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent troubleshooting practices and the determination to solve complex problems

  • Working knowledge of project management principles

  • Collaborative, constructive, and positive approach to work

KEY RELATIONSHIPS :

This position has frequent and direct contact with ITS leadership, peers and colleagues, as well as administrative and academic partners across the campus. This role requires managing relationships with third parties such as vendors and consulting contacts.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Work outside of normal office hours may be required.
