Position Summary
Reporting to the director of career services, within the Career Services Office and the SUNY Cortland Division of Student Affairs, the associate director is a data and technology specialist who serves as the main point of contact for the Handshake digital career platform including integration of Banner student data. This position assists the director in administering a multi-faceted career services office and participates in coaching and programming related to career development and job search. This position will supervise the employer relations and recruiting coordinator and provide oversight to First Destinations graduate outcomes survey process.
Major Responsibilities
- Serve as main point of contact for Handshake digital career platform (with both vendor and career services staff), including monitoring and maintenance of system for employers, job postings, appointments and event infrastructure. Work with Information Systems and Security or other campus departments as necessary for full integration with Ellucian Banner data.
- Supervise employer relations and recruiting coordinator.

- Provide mentorship and project supervision for Career Services staff member responsible for data collection and annual first destinations report
- Assist with communication with internal and external audiences on FDS data requests and communications as needed
- Provide functional supervision of administrative support staff and serve as office manager in the absence of the director.
- Provide high-quality career coaching around resume, cover letter, interviewing, career decision making, career assessments, professional skills, and various career development topics for students and alumni.
- Create and present workshops, classes, and content to internal and external audiences around career and life skill development.
- Co-teach ADV 200 course on career exploration in collaboration with Advisement and Transition.
- Coordinate with director on digital content development to aid with scale and accessibility of services.
- Provide accurate teacher certification support and advisement to students, alumni, and prospective students.
- Assist with website content management and co-manage with Alumni Engagement the SUNY Cortland LinkedIn Group for students and alumni.

- Master’s Degree
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, public speaking, organizational and writing skills
- Experience with career development and coaching and/or job search and recruitment practices
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
- Demonstrated experience working with information systems and data management/analysis
- Experience with employer relations and recruiting
- Supervision experience
- Familiarity with student information systems
- Familiarity with Handshake or similar employment/career platform(s)
- Familiarity with first destinations/ graduate outcomes research and reporting
