Position Summary

This is a .5 FTE position (approximately 1040 hours per year). Work schedule to be negotiated based on the needs of the office.

Portland Community College is looking for a Teaching and Learning Specialist (coordinator) to join The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) team. The specialist/coordinator will engage part and full-time faculty in professional development grounded in culturally responsive practices that increase sense of belonging and equitable student outcomes. The Teaching and Learning Specialist builds partnerships across pathways and student support services to create engagement and participation. The specialist applies research-supported pedagogy, various curriculum delivery methods, and assessment practices to improve faculty effectiveness.

Campus work site: Sylvania or Rock Creek
Position can be fully on-site or on-site flex, depending on preference
Maximum remote work time per week for this .5 FTE position will vary depending on time of year, projects in progress, and stakeholder engagement needs (as determined in coordination with CTLE Coordinator), but in general may range 6-12 hours per week. Frequent travel to campus locations other than the primary work site required.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Student Development, Curriculum Development, Professional Development, Training, or related field.

OR Bachelor’s degree in any field and two years of experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement.

AND

Four years of experience in a post-secondary environment developing, coaching, training, mentoring, or teaching other faculty.

Starting Salary Expectations
$28.88/hr to $30.94/hr (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Travel within and around the PCC service district requires the ability to drive and use of a personal vehicle.

Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
