Assistant Professor in Sports Management

Frostburg State University, Department of Recreation and Parks Management, seeks applications for an Assistant Professor in Sport Management to teach courses in the Sport Promotion and Communication concentration (undergraduate) and the Sport Management concentration (graduate online) in the Recreation and Parks Management program. This full time, tenure-track position will begin Fall 2023 and is located on the main campus in Frostburg, Maryland. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.

 

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in Sport Promotion and Communication and graduate courses (online) in Sport Management. Emphasis is on the topic areas of sport promotion, sport media and communication, sport management, computer mediated communication in sports, facilities planning and management, and research in sport recreation. Coordinate experiential learning for students and establish a line of research that includes collaboration with undergraduate and graduate students. Seek external funding for research projects and educational programs. Advise undergraduate and graduate students, and direct thesis and graduate project research. This position will build collaborative relationships with intercollegiate athletics and surrounding high schools in order to cultivate meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty members at FSU are expected to actively participate in the University’s student-learning-assessment program.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate. Previous university-level teaching experience of core courses. Three or more years of professional experience in the sport management field. ABD in Sport Management, Sport Communication, Sport Marketing or related field with completion prior to position start date will be considered. Candidate must provide in writing information that demonstrates they have a commitment to and experience with inclusion and diversity efforts and are committed to civic engagement.
