Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $68,000 – $70,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.

Position Summary

Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a lecturer position in the Department of Aviation and Aerospace Science to begin Fall 2023. This position will teach 12 credit hours per semester, maintain office hours as required to include advising/consultation with students, and engage in student-centered activities. Candidates will be expected to teach courses such as, but not limited to, the following: Aviation Fundamentals (Private Pilot Ground), Aviation Weather, Single and Multi-Engine Flight Simulation, Commercial and Instrument Ground, Instrument Flight Simulation, Aircraft Systems and Propulsion, Aerodynamics, Human Factors and Physiology of Flight, Aircraft Performance, Advanced Navigation Systems.

MSU Denver is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for underrepresented and historically minoritized groups. Duties/Responsibilities

This position teaches 4 courses per semester (fall and spring) in the Department of Aviation & Aerospace Science ( AVS ) and advises students a minimum of 5 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in aviation operations OR a minimum of 4 years of higher education teaching experience in a related field OR a combination of aviation operations experience and higher education teaching experience in a related field totaling a minimum of 4 years of combined experience
  2. Required FAA Certifications of Commercial Certificate with Instrument Rating, Certified Flight Instructor


Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation operations OR a minimum of 5 years of higher education teaching experience in a related field OR a combination of aviation operations experience and higher education teaching experience in a related field totaling a minimum of 5 years of combined experience

FAA certifications as stated in required qualifications with preference to those also holding the Airline Transport Pilot certificate, Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument, Multi-engine Rating and Instructor certificate, Advanced and Instrument Ground Instructor, Turbine Aircraft Type Rating(s)
