Admissions invites applications for an Admissions Evaluator II to join their team. This position is responsible for all tasks performed by university evaluators. This position is responsible for the implementation of admission policies and selection criteria to the University of Montana. This person serves as an expert adviser on UM and admission policies and procedures. They provide course articulation and evaluations guidance to faculty, staff and the general public.

This position has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the UM admissions policies, procedures and practices. The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines, completing all projects in a timely fashion and interacting with the public in a professional manner. They must possess a strong passion for, and understanding of, the programs and disciplines of the University of Montana to project a positive image of the University to prospective students and their families. As an Admissions Evaluator II, this position will train other evaluators and consult in regard to evaluation office employee performance.

This position requires incumbent to develop expert familiarity with University of Montana course catalog and thorough understanding of Admissions, recruiting and Financial Aid strategies, policies, procedures and goals.

Required Skills
  • Responsible for analyzing all documents submitted for admission and exercising discretion and independent judgement to make admissions decisions for U.S. applicants.
  • Demonstrated skills to read, understand, analyze, interpret, evaluate and apply federal/state/university rules, regulations and policies.
  • Ability to determine course equivalencies for both the Mountain Campus and Missoula College.
  • Experience in processing complex calculations such as GPA conversions.
  • Responsible for knowing residency criteria and guidelines and making residency decisions.
  • Expertly write and decipher national transfer agreements.
  • Adept in data entry and maintaining necessary records and databases.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical skills and ability to adapt to changing procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality of information and materials.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently, cooperatively and effectively as part of the team.
  • Ability to remain positively self-directed, focused, and productive, especially when work is repetitive or tedious.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including expert knowledge of written English grammar and usage.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and skills with a wide range of constituents.
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work collaboratively with a variety of people.
Minimum Required Experience
  • High School diploma and two (2) years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert familiarity with University of Montana course catalog
  • Thorough understanding of Admissions, recruiting and Financial Aid strategies, policies, procedures and goals
  • Expert knowledge of Banner SIS transfer articulation tables and Degree Works.

Position Details

Position Title: Admissions Evaluator II

Position Number: 006100

Department: Admissions/New Student Services

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through

Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.

Salary: $18.126/hr

Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department .

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
