Location: Brooklyn, NY

Description:
Pratt's Research and Strategic Partnerships team is looking for an articulate, thoughtful, and strategic grant writer to help faculty and others in the Pratt community to develop grant proposals that will advance Pratt's unique mission. The Provost's Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships seeks to support projects that create research opportunities for faculty, student learning opportunities, and partnerships with communities to advance community goals. This will include assisting faculty in identifying funding sources, drafting applications, and materials that accurately describe the project and its potential impacts, and showing how it aligns with a foundation's objectives. Duties will range from researching foundation and government funding databases, networking and meeting with faculty, drafting and editing materials, and helping to submit applications through various funding portals.

In a typical week, you would:

.
  • Assist in preparing several grant proposals, including researching the programs and application process of potential funding sources, obtaining backup documents such as Pratt's financial reports, and reviewing drafts of the grants.
  • Work with the Budget Operations Assistant and other members of the ORSP to develop a project budget and ensure compliance with requirements stipulated in contracts, foundation grants, and Pratt Institute.
  • Meet with the Chief Strategy Officer and your supervisor and participate in an OSRP team meeting.
  • Track the implementation of grants and assist in preparing interim and end-of-project reports required pursuant to any awards.
  • Assist in other ORSP work, such as organizing events, helping to prepare for meetings with potential funders and elected officials, and drafting an end-of-year report.


Salary Range: $61K - $67K + Generous Benefits


Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree optional.

Experience: The strongest candidates will have two to three years’ related experience in fundraising,

Knowledge and Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent research skills, ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, and vital skills in developing and using databases to collect and aggregate information on funding.

Good organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills, able to multitask and manage multiple projects, often under deadline pressures, and with keen attention to detail.

Demonstrate intercultural competence with an understanding of the importance of diversity in higher education.
