Payroll Accountant

Location: Moscow

Position Summary:
As a collaborative member of the Payroll Department, the Payroll Accountant will participate in processing and transmitting University Payroll transactions ensuring compliance with all university, State and Federal payroll related polices, laws and regulations. The team ensures transactions are processed timely and accurately, reviewing and resolving discrepancies expeditiously. They serve as an expert resource for the campus community, providing training related to payroll, tax and withholding-related processes and requirements.Duties may include:
  • Entering, verifying, and reconciling information for the biweekly payroll
  • Verifying and transmitting direct-deposit transfers
  • Development and submission of payroll, retirement and tax-related reports
  • Reviewing and auditing payroll transactions
  • Calculating and processing tax withholdings
  • Reconciling wages and deductions
  • Maintaining employee payroll records
  • Participating in reviewing and adjusting processing procedures

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience related to payroll, benefits, and/or taxes or a bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting.
    • Using computer software and applications for researching and compiling financial information, preparing summaries and reports
    • Experience analyzing and interpreting financial information and reports using accounting theory, principles, and practices
    • Experience composing a variety of business documents with attention to grammar, punctuation, and detail as demonstrated in application materials
    • Experience working in a customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working in a public and/or university financial and payroll environment
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve sensitive and sometimes confrontational situations
  • Knowledge of the Banner information system
