Position Summary:
Working under the general direction of the Machine Shop Supervisor, the incumbent of this position is responsible for: fabricating, installing and repairing mechanical systems, researching equipment and building structural components. Repairing and maintaining building HVAC and mechanical equipment and performing certified welding on structural components, steam, and chilled water distribution systems. This will require the incumbent to drive to-and-from work locations.
This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or University closure.

Minimum Qualifications:
None
- 4 years of experience working as a welder/fabricator in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years post-secondary training in a related field
- Experience with:
- HVAC mechanical systems fabrications and repair
- Mitigating hazards associated with hazardous materials such as
lead based paint and asbestos.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50 pounds, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and work in awkward positions
- Participate in a medical surveillance program and respirator fit test
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
- Certification in weld qualification procedures for E70xx low hydrogen electrodes in 3g and 4g positions for structural applications or must have the ability to obtain this certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess: a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
