Assistant Professor in Legal Studies

POSITION:    Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Legal Studies, Department of Human Behavior, Justice and Diversity 

DUTIES:
•    Instruction of 12 credits or their equivalent per semester in the legal studies/criminal justice curriculum, using a variety of modalities (on- campus, on-line, hybrid).
•    Student advisement.
•    Advisement to student organizations as needed by the program, such as Mock Trial and Pre-Law Society.
•    Service to the University, including program, departmental and campus committee work
•    Engagement in professional and public service
•    Engagement in research, scholarly activity and continuing education.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
•    PhD in Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Philosophy, Political Science, or a closely related discipline
•    Higher education teaching experience.
•    Experience teaching or learning in an online environment.
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
•    Professional practice experience in a justice setting such as courts, courtroom work, processes and/or research.
•    Willingness to engage in community partnerships and demonstrated connections to potential law or criminal justice regional partners;
•    Familiarity with and willingness to teach using traditional pre-law pedagogical methods including IRAC.

SALARY:    Salary range for this position is: $52,000 - $59,000 annually.  Additionally, UWS offers a competitive salary and benefits package including health insurance coverage for eligible dependents. Learn more here:
