Job Announcement – Non-Tenure-Track Lecturer in Drawing and Painting
The Department of the Arts in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for a Lecturer in Drawing and Painting to begin in Fall 2023. The full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position supports the Electronic Arts major, the Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences (GSAS) majors, and the Studio Arts minor.
We seek an artist working in traditional 2-D media with a strong record of creative practice and professional accomplishments with demonstrated teaching excellence at the collegiate level. The ideal candidate will be able to support students in developing technical proficiency, creative vision, and critical perspective in the areas of drawing, painting, color theory, and figurative 2-D art. Teaching responsibilities include courses in drawing, painting, color theory, and intermediate and advanced topics and production courses. Potential additional areas of interest include graphic design and 2-D animation. The successful candidate must hold an M.F.A., Ph.D. or foreign degree equivalent at the time of appointment and have successful teaching experience at the collegiate level. A minimum of three years of professional experience is preferred.
The Department of the Arts is home to one of the first Electronic Arts programs in the country. The B.S. and Ph.D. in Electronic Arts include animation, studio art, sound art, music and music technology, digital filmmaking, multimedia installation, augmented and virtual reality, experimental games, performance art, bio-art, internet art, and other experimental media at the intersection of art, science, and technology. https://hass.rpi.edu/arts
