Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $60.00/hour; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.
This is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time adjunct positions for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The Foods and Nutrition Instructor for Culinary Arts will teach courses in the Foods and Nutrition Program. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction for a variety of lower-division courses in the principles and techniques of food preparation, food management, food production services, restaurant management, related technologies and other assigned courses in the Food and Nutrition Program depending on the applicant's experience and background and on institutional needs. Other duties include maintaining currency in the discipline, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multi-media technology as appropriate, using varied teaching methodologies, and actively participating in other departmental, college, and discipline-related activities. This assignment may include teaching at the Bakersfield campus or other instructional sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large-sized classes, and distance learning classes, as needed.
Possession of a credential, which authorizes the full-time teaching of Food Management and Culinary Arts classes at the California community college level
OR- Master's degree in Food Service Management, Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Home Economics/Family and Consumer Studies with a specialization in Foods, Culinary Arts or Hospitality
OR - Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in Business or Management
OR - Any Bachelor's degree AND two years work experience in the Food Service Industry
OR - Any Associate Degree AND six years work experience in the Food Service Industry
OR - The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form. Supporting documents must be included with the completed form.
AND - A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
