Job Summary
The American Recovery Plan (ARP) is funding this short-term grant intended to educate the community about the COVID-19 vaccine and assist individuals with navigating the system to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine. The ARP Senior Companion Program (SCP) coordinator is the GSU Area Senior Companion Program's designated staff member to manage day-to-day operations of this program. The coordinator will perform all duties in person within the community served, on the phone and from home.
The coordinator is responsible for the volunteer recruitment and management of 80 Senior Companion volunteers in a 22 county region. The coordinator represents the program and Georgia Southern University in outreach and coordination with other agencies and community resources. The coordinator works with the director to develop and implement the SCP including strategic planning, program development, fiscal management, volunteer stipend management, volunteer and staff supervision and promotional activities. The coordinator provides administrative, clerical, and technical assistance for the implementation of the program. The coordinator develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with staff from various community organizations to gain support and promote linkages.
This benefited position ends June 30, 2024. Employment is contingent upon grant funding availability.
Responsibilities
- Organize, coordinate, supervise, and complete special projects and/or events in the day-to-day management of the unit, function or department
- Will work in the following Georgia counties: Jenkins, Screven, Effingham, Bulloch, Emanuel, Candler, Evans, Tattnall, Bryan, Appling, Liberty, Long, Toombs, and Wayne Counties
- Coordinate and monitor project activities including recruitment, in-service training, supervisory arrangements, and other activities in cooperation with the project director and appropriate volunteer station staff
- Coordinate AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer in SCP assignments including developing volunteer assignment plans and volunteer activities and monitoring progress toward achieving the expected outputs and outcomes specified in performance measures
- Enhance the total project effort through active involvement with community organizations, other national service programs, and other senior and volunteer programs
- Provide information and support to AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers
- Assess the appropriateness and performance of volunteer stations
- Attend training conferences conducted or authorized by AmeriCorps Seniors as funding allows
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, or a related field
Other Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of community resources
Required Experience
- Three (3) or more years of experience in human services or related field, which includes at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity
- Volunteer management experience
Proposed Salary
$22.83 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
