Job Summary
Provide students with financial aid counseling, and information on available programs, procedures and eligibility and federal and state information.
Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of student's needs for the program from acceptance to graduation
- Work with the various campus departments to ensure program efficiency for students
- Evaluate students' financial aid requests and making award adjustments and recalculations on less complex financial aid issues
- Evaluate student academic progress relative to Georgia Southern policy, and reviewing and adjudicating academic progress appeals
- Provide professional counseling to students and parents of students either in attendance or in preparation of attendance as to the availability of financial aid and the requirements respectively associated with that availability
- Assist the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director of Financial Aid with special projects, as assigned, and coordinate those assignments with members of the staff as needed (this includes project preparation of annual reports to the state and federal government)
- Prepare and present lectures at workshops to the public and University groups addressing financial aid topics, including how to apply for financial aid, debt management, loan counseling and personal budgeting
- Assist in establishing policies and procedures in accordance with the mission and goals of Georgia
- Southern University and federal and state guidelines for all Title IV funds as well as institutional funds
- Assist in developing and implementing procedures for the functions of data entry, maintenance, and retrieval of student information for the financial aid computerized delivery system
- Direct the collection and maintenance of all hard copy student data to include documentation of receipt and entry into the financial aid system
- Serve as a financial aid representative at all University events related to recruitment of the programs
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in counseling, education, finance, accounting, public administration, or communications
Required Experience
- Three (3) or more years of related work experience
Proposed Salary
$18.41 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
