Job Summary:
This position is working 25 hours per week. Responsible for all cash handling activities occurring within the Cashier's Office. Works closely with students, employees, and external customers, accepting and applying payments to the appropriate accounts. Has access to confidential information pertaining to students, customers, and employees. Usually first contact with internal and external customers. Serves as backup staffing for processing accounts receivable.

Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for all cash receipt handling and payment posting activities at cashier window: tuition payments, transcript fees, Dial-A-Ride tickets, miscellaneous fees and payments, collection agency checks, property tax checks, club and athletic fundraising receipts, etc.2. Completely and accurately posts all payments received each day.3. Balances Business Office cash drawers and credit card machines daily, cash boxes from other areas as presented, and Cashier’s Office safe count periodically.4. Verifies auto download of flex payments received from Nelnet, posting adjustments when necessary.5. Reviews student posting session detail and creates registration holds, as necessary; places holds on students with delinquent payments.6. Coordinates with CES to ensure cash requests for events are provided (i.e., cash drawers) and ensures timely return of funds.7. Records tuition waivers for employees, dependents and senior citizens.8. Scans College and Foundation checks for deposit and reconciles detail each day.9. Prepares daily bank deposits.10. Performs monthly Napier campus petty cash and cash drawer counts and reconciles to general ledger accounts.11. Acts as a contact for student account information, collection activities, FLEX budget plan information, and queries from customers, etc.12. Notifies students of checks returned to the College for non-sufficient funds or other reason.13. Maintains all College credit card and check scanning deposit machines.14. Works with and trains student employees in Business Office.15. Acts as backup for accounts receivable functions and is fully cross trained in each function.

Other Duties:
1. Performs other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Accounts Receivable, the Cashier/Accounts Receivable Assistant is responsible for all cashier functions of the Cashier’s Office and serves as backup staffing for processing accounts receivable.

Job Specifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred. College courses in accounting preferred. Two or more years of general office experience required. Knowledge of standard office machines and cash handling required. Knowledge of computers required. Good interpersonal/public relations skills and strong customer service skills are required. Proficiency with spreadsheets preferred.
