Job Summary
The Neuroinformatics Research Group is a small engineering team embedded within the Center for Brain Science at Harvard. Our core mission is to work with faculty, students, and staff to facilitate cutting-edge neuroimaging research. To this end, we provide direct informatics support for the Center for Brain Science Neuroimaging community, including collaborative projects in the Schizophrenia Spectrum Biomarkers Consortium (Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard), Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Research Disease Center (MGB), and the Accelerating Medicines Partner-ship (McLean Hospital). We are first and foremost looking for candidates who will be excited and motivated by advancing these important missions and developing domain expertise.
A core responsibility of the Neuroinformatics Software Developer is to ensure the operability of production software and services and guide us towards better software engineering practices within a fast-paced environment. We are especially interested in Linux expertise, data security, scalability, and demand forecasting.
Another responsibility of the Neuroinformatics Software Developer is to support, develop, and maintain production applications. The ideal candidate should have experience with continuous delivery, software quality assurance, and modern software development methodologies.
The Neuroinformatics Software Developer may also act as a point person for a broad user base of academic researchers and students. Supporting their research requires addressing novel challenges every day, often under time constraints imposed by upcoming conferences, publications, and data collection scheduling. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills paired with a desire to solve complex problems.
