Job Summary

The Content and Event Coordinator I manages the design and development of content related to marketing and communications for U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering consistent with college’s initiatives and programs. This position will also work on event planning and execution events related to student and community outreach.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Manages the design and development of departmental website and social media content that supports the college’s marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Provides creative leadership in generating original ideas for marketing and social media strategies that achieve strategic goals and are in-line with appropriate targets and timelines.
  • Ensures the college websites are maintained, updated, and evaluated for effectiveness.
  • Develops print and electronic publications including brochures, flyers, announcements, invitations, bulletins, newsletters, and handbooks.
  • Communicates with faculty, staff, and Academic Advisors about upcoming events, to set up and present class presentations, and to provide consultation to faculty, staff, and Academic Advisors who coordinate cocurricular events, extra-curricular events, and academic internship programs
  • Stays current on trends, resources, research, and employer recruitment activities that impact student employability and student success
  • Plans and executes career and internship fairs, workshops, outreach, online orientations, and special events related to the college.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, fine arts, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional full-time experience in marketing, public relations, social media, or website development.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience with publishing, imaging, or graphics software. (Photoshop).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Work experience in higher education.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies and communication principles.
  • Knowledge and experience designing, implementing and assessing the effectiveness of marketing strategies and promotional materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to design promotional and marketing materials including brochures, newsletters, posters, on-line banners, ads, reports, and web content.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
