Job Description

UMKC's Regional Professional Development Center is seeking an ELA/Literacy Project Coordinator. This position will provide coordination and management of the Read, Lead, Exceed LETRS training initiative. Support Literacy Consultants in all Regional Professional Development Centers (RPDC) as they work to provide educators with professional development. Collaborate with other initiatives and interagency work for DESE to organize support to identified LEAs and Schools.

The Literacy Project Coordinator position is specifically intended to collect, organize, manage, and report Read, Lead, Exceed LETRS training data and to support the successful implementation of the training. In addition, the Literacy Project Coordinator will Coordinate activates both through the RPDCs as well as supporting DESE projects.

The person filling this position will have a thorough knowledge of project coordination, scheduling, and ordering of materials required in the position. The person filling this position is also expected to have a working knowledge of technology and be able to use it in development, presentation, and delivery of project reporting.
Personnel serving in the role of Literacy Project Coordinator are required to have a thorough understanding of the scope of the work and of the intended outcomes of this contract. Individuals requested by the DESE Technical Contact and/or DESE Literacy Director. It is the expectation that all contracted personnel will use the materials and tools provided or approved by DESE with integrity. Individuals providing services outlined in this contract are expected to be ambassadors of DESE in their work with LEA and communities.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with DESE Literacy Director to support RPDC Literacy Consultant statewide work.
  • Participate in collaborative planning meetings with literacy consultants within and across regions.
  • Assist DESE with collection of data for statewide analysis.
  • Attend and actively participate in statewide monthly resource, support, and training meetings, as designated by the DESE master calendar and direction from the DESE Technical Contact and/or DESE Literacy Director.
  • Collect, organize, and report LETRS training data weekly using the DESE provided system.
  • Assist with collecting and reporting monthly data and consultant activities using a DESE provided system
  • Assist all RPDC Literacy consultants in scheduling and progress monitoring of all Read, Lead, Exceed LETRS participants.
  • Assist RPDC literacy Consultants and DESE Literacy Director in monitoring of all Lexia LETRS online platform to organize and collect data regarding LETRS participant progress.
  • Collect and organize data submitted by LETRS.com from B2P activities of buy-in school participants.
  • Maintain project calendars
  • Answer questions from Stakeholders
  • Create, organize, and distribute information and materials regarding MO Read, Lead, Exceed initiatives.
  • Attend meetings as requested by DESE Technical Contact and/or Literacy Director
  • Assist with contracting, accounting and fiscal tasks as needed regarding LETRS training and other literacy training conducted by or for RPDC Literacy Consultants.
  • Other duties and functions as assigned by DESE Technical Contact and/or DESE Literacy Director.
Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in related/relevant area, and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Experience and Education:
  • Experience with working with multiple team members and outside stakeholders.
  • Experience with ordering materials, scheduling, and progress monitoring.
  • Three (3) years of experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects and data/order management.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to coordinate activities between multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to express complex ideas to a variety of audiences clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage diverse activities and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and effective working relationship with DESE staff, RPDC staff, and LEA personnel.
  • Ability to establish complex project challenges and develop feasible solutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and effective working relationships with DESE staff and RPDC personnel
  • Proficiency with workplace technology and tools, including MS office Suits, web browsers, virtual meeting platforms, and other data management systems etc.
  • Ability to complete diverse activities and meet established deadlines.

$55,208 - $78,000 commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity
