Job Description

This position will manage a campus-wide food access program that will include education and awareness, program and policy development, program evaluation, collaboration with campus and community partners, and social media marketing. In this role, the assistant director will manage all aspects of the Campus Kitchen at Virginia Tech program and The Market of Virginia Tech. The assistant director will also convene the Food Access Initiatives Team and manage campus-wide efforts to increase food security among students at VT. This position will play a key role increasing food access and awareness at Virginia Tech.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in public health, food science, nutrition, leadership
education, nonprofit management, or related field. Demonstrated commitment to issues and initiatives related to social justice, food security, inclusion, and diversity. Must be detail-oriented. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Some evening and weekend work required. Experience with supervision of student staff or volunteers required. Must hold a valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing. Must be comfortable driving a minivan.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of food recovery, food diversion, and collective impact. Evidence of effective
partnership development and management. Experience developing partnerships with student affairs areas and community-based organizations. Knowledge of assessment of student learning and/or community impact. Food handling certification (such as ServSafe).
