Tenure-track position (academic year) within the broad fields of antimicrobial resistance in livestock ecosystems with primary emphasis in research and secondary emphasis in teaching.

The Department of Animal Sciences is seeking a highly qualified individual for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level within the broad fields of antimicrobial resistance in livestock ecosystems. Antimicrobial resistance is a biologically complex global problem that will require a multi-pronged response to reduce levels of antimicrobial resistant bacteria. This is a major challenge in animal production as there is a need for reducing antibiotic use. Therefore, the successful candidate will develop a nationally and internationally recognized program to develop innovative strategies to understand, prevent, control or reduce antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic usage in animal agroecosystems. The training and research background of the successful candidate may arise from one of the following various fields of study, including but not limited to, bacterial physiology, bacterial-host interactions, microbial ecology/evolution, genomic/genetic approaches, animal management, epidemiology, or bioinformatics.

Graduate and undergraduate student advising and training is expected. Furthermore, collaborative research activities that address foundational or emerging issues in the integration of multi-omic and large-scale high-throughput phenotypic datasets is strongly encouraged. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in their areas of expertise. Potential exists for teaching distance courses. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate students through undergraduate research projects, club activities, and career advising.
