Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Graphic Communications faculty position in the School of Art and Design beginning August 2023. 

Responsibilities Include

  • Teach a range of undergraduate courses in the Graphic Communications program (up to six a year) in graphic design, typography, print and package design.
  • Further develop the curriculum within Graphic Communications.
  • Mentor undergraduate students.
  • Actively engage in creative endeavors, and/or scholarly activities.
  • Participation in usual departmental activities, course development, and to serve on departmental and university committees as assigned or elected.
  • Teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community

The selected candidate will be expected to teach introductory through advanced-level courses in our Graphic Communications curriculum on a regular rotation.

All tenure track faculty have teaching, service, and scholarship/research activity expectations. Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications Include

  • A terminal degree, or a foreign equivalent, in Graphic Design, Digital Art/Media, or related field is required at the time of appointment.
  • Familiarity with typography, print and package design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suites.

Preferred Qualifications Include

  • Teaching experience beyond graduate school.
  • Online teaching experience
  • Expertise in a secondary area of specialization – such as interaction, accessibility, communication, or user-experience design; data visualization; design history, theory, and criticism – that will contribute to the department’s course offerings is desirable.
  • Professional experience in the graphic design industry.
