  • The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department at Middlesex College invites applications for a part-time, non-credit Mental Health Technician Instructor during the 2023-2024 Academic Year.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The ability to teach a part-time, non-credit Mental Health Technician Program which includes the following:
  • Professional Conduct
    1. Cultural competency
    2. Ethical conduct and Patient Rights
  • Psychological Development at all Life Stages
  • Disease Characteristics, Signs & Symptoms
  • Treatment/Intervention modalities
  • Pharmacology
  • Assisting with activities of daily living; attending to patient behavior problems, and providing assistance in crisis intervention
  • Basic Nursing Skills such as Personal Hygiene, Vital Signs
  • Group facilitation/Patient Education/Recreational Activities
  • Prepare students for a recognized industry certification exam
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current registration as a NJ Licensed RN
  • Ability to maintain classroom discipline, counsel students on performance, accurately document student attendance and performance
  • Ability to conduct both in-person and virtual education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years’ experience as In-Patient Mental Health Nurse
  • Mental Health First Aid Instructor certification
  • Current registration as a NJ Licensed BSN
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
  • Applicants selected for interviews are required to present a teaching demonstration.
