Assistant Professor of Digital Animation
School of Art and Design
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Digital Animation faculty position in the School of Art and Design beginning August 2023.
Responsibilities Include
- Teach a range of undergraduate courses in the BFA in Digital Animation program. Use both traditional and digital animation techniques to provide a broad range of working experiences to our students.
- Further develop the Animation curriculum.
- Mentor undergraduate students.
- Actively engage in creative endeavors, and/or scholarly activities.
- Participation in usual departmental activities, course development, and to serve on departmental and university committees as assigned.
- Teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community.
The selected candidate will be expected to teach introductory through advanced-level courses in Animation on a regular rotation. Teaching in the MA in Art and Design program is a possibility.
All tenure track faculty have teaching, service, and scholarship/research activity expectations. Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications Include
- A terminal degree, or foreign equivalent, in Animation.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suites. Additional proficiency in software related to 2D and/or 3D Digital Animation.
Preferred Qualifications Include
- Industry experience and an established record of professional achievement. We encourage practice across all media and technology using a variety of materials in the visual arts, integrating new and emerging areas of art making, which supports our progressive curriculum.
- Teaching experience beyond graduate school.
- Online teaching experience
- Familiarity with industry software such as Final Cut Pro, Harmony, including Toon-Boom and Storyboard Pro.
- 2D and/or 3D animation production, interactivity, design, and technology.
- Expertise in a secondary area of specialization – such as motion graphics, illustration, sequential art.
