Job Description
The Coordinator is a central member of the Community Standards team. The Coordinator manages a caseload of approximately 300-400 cases per year, assists with the selection and training of the University Conduct Board, and coordinates University Appeals Board hearings. In incumbent advises Conduct Board hearings with sanction ability up to expulsion.
The Coordinator plays a key role in the learning and development of Syracuse University students. The Coordinator responds to inquiries from partner offices (Student Living, Public Safety, Student Outreach, Counseling at the Barnes Center, etc.) and others including parents. The Coordinator serves as a referral source to appropriate campus support resources.
The Coordinator will also facilitate informational sessions regarding the Code of Student Conduct and the student conduct process and helps to develop departmental communications including brochures, flyers, annual report and website. The advisor is responsible for developing and maintaining records in accordance with Federal law and University policies. Some evening and weekend hours are required. The Student Conduct Advisor may be asked to supervise a graduate student.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 or more years of fulltime experience or 2 years if part-time graduate.
- Experience in student conduct/residence life with conduct resolution responsibilities.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, or related human development degree with two or more years of experience with student conduct practices in a college or university.
- Use of Maxient Conduct Software
- Ability to maintain privacy
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Manage a case load of approximately 300-400 cases per year (initial meeting through campus and parental notification if required).
- Train and select conduct boards. Coordinate University Conduct Board/University Appeals Board hearings and advise Conduct Board hearings with sanction ability up to expulsion.
- Supervise graduate student or practicum student as needed.
- Develop and facilitate educational programs for residential and off-campus students. Facilitate informational sessions regarding the Code of Student Conduct and the student conduct process as needed. Participate in the development of departmental communications including brochures, flyers, annual report and website.
- Develop and maintain records in accordance with Federal law and University policies.
