Definition of Class

This position manages the effective use of video, audio, graphical and other electronic media. The incumbent serves as a department lead regarding all digital equipment use, purchases, and maintenance, provides supervision and guidance for the multimedia team and utilizes creative abilities and technical techniques in production of audio and video, web design, podcast development and /or use of other media as required.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Assists faculty and staff with integrating multimedia into teaching, learning, research, or other needs.
  • Provides creative leadership in determining conceptual outcomes for media projects that achieve strategic goals.
  • Produces quality video and audio projects with attention to lighting, sound, shot composition, camera work, etc.
  • Manages, edits, and uploads podcasts to the departmental website and other streaming sources.
  • Develops new techniques, systems, and procedures to enhance the complex strategic operating issues.
  • Trains and supervises team members.
  • Provides administrator support to end users for department’s virtual communication platform.
  • Researches and stays abreast of digital technology and web-based techniques.
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding updates and changes in technology and equipment.
  • Manages pre and post production of video broadcasts and live streams.
  • Provides technical and media support. Answers questions, troubleshoots, and resolves technology problems.
  • Trains external contractors on the use of digital equipment and the virtual communication platform, as needed.
  • Manages technology related inventory and determines when equipment should be replaced and/or discarded.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, Southeastern Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Determines equipment selection and deployment of various assignments.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  1. Manages use of departmental multimedia technology.
  2. Utilizes creative abilities and technical techniques in production of audio and video, web design, podcast development and/or use of other media as required.
  3. Serves as an expert to the department regarding all digital equipment use, purchases, and maintenance.
  4. Supervises and guides multimedia team members.


Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

AND

Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
