Position Summary:
The Social Media Manger is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the social media strategy for the University of Idaho's Auxiliary Services. Working under the Director of Business Development, Marketing and Communications, this position will oversee and collaborate on a wide breadth of Auxiliary Services' online interactions with the public. Areas will include university housing, campus dining, cultural events, conferences, multiple VandalStore locations, swim center, U of I golf course, as well as transportation and parking.
Specific duties will include:
  • Using social media marketing tools to create and maintain Auxiliary Services marketing efforts.
  • Working with marketing professionals to develop social media marketing campaigns.
  • Interacting with customers and other stakeholders via multiple social media accounts.
  • Analyzing Auxiliary Services' digital marketing plan and social media strategy and identifying strategic weaknesses and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Researching social media trends and informing management of changes that are relevant to marketing activities.
  • Setting key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns, such as targets for a certain number of shares or likes and measuring a campaign's performance against the KPIs.
  • Implement and maintain a rigorous social media calendar for each service.



The Social Media Manager will need to be adept at understanding how social media fits into an integrated marketing and communications plan while creating the content publishing and distribution calendar ensuring the content plan aligns with Auxiliary Services marketing strategy. This position will represent multiple specific auxiliary services in social media spaces, actively monitoring and engaging in dialogues appropriately with key audiences, working with campus partners to answer questions in a timely manner, be a problem solver with ‘can-do' attitude approaching every opportunity with the mindset for customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field; 4 additional years of social media content creation/management experience (total of 6) may substitute for bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of experience in social media content creation/management.
  • Two years of experience with data analytics.
  • Proficient in using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, email and internet research.
  • Experience in Mac OS environment.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with:
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent client relations skills.
  • Social media publishing tools.
  • Project management tools.



  • Ability to be flexible with assignments and multiple priorities. Ability to learn new skills as the opportunities or the need arise.
  • Experience using social media platforms to execute marketing and social media strategy as demonstrated in a portfolio submitted at time of application.
