Assistant Professor in Applied Data Science and Analytics 

 

The College of Pharmacy and College of Medicine is seeking applications for two full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Applied Data Science and Analytics. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for reinforcing the existing data science activities within the College (which may correspond to a combination of research and instruction, instruction only, or research only) while devoting 40% effort to the newly founded Center for Applied Data Science and Analytics (CADSA) activities. Successful candidates are expected to develop vigorous, extramurally funded research programs in their areas of expertise, actively participate in teaching in-person and online. The position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is identified. 

 

Founded in 1867 in Washington D.C., Howard University is a private co-educational institution of higher learning. The University has approximately 10,000 students enrolled in 13 schools and colleges. Howard University has a rich and successful history of training “Pharmacy Leaders for America and the Global Community”. The College of Pharmacy has 33 FTE faculty, and a number of part-time faculty members who serve a student body of over 300 professional and graduate students. The college is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and offers the Pharm.D. degree, distance learning-based non-traditional Pharm.D. degree, and Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The diverse faculty, student population, and location provide a culturally enriching environment and opportunities for growth and development. 

 

The minimum requirements are a doctorate in Data Science or a closely related discipline such as Applied Statistics or Computer Science. Research experience within Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Public Health would be ideal. Particularly, a candidate with expertise in one or two of the following fields is much needed: a) Deep Learning algorithms support; b) Inferring from Noisy and/or Incomplete Data; c) Trustworthy AI. Candidates with previous teaching experience, especially online instructional experiences, will be given preference.
